Spearhead Theatre is a non-profit theatre company based in Fredericton, New Brunswick. We are focused on revitalizing classic works that challenge and appeal to today’s audiences along with bringing dynamic new works to the stage.
Our goals are to enrich the community by making classic theatrical works more accessible for audiences and to introduce Fredericton as the next big player in the Canadian theatre industry.
Kelly McAllister – Founder and Artistic Director
Kelly McAllister is an actor, singer, and puppeteer. She grew up in the small town of Carleton Place, about a half hour drive from our nation’s capital. Her love for theatre started at a very young age when she would watch classic MGM musicals at her Grandma’s house. She had been bitten by the ‘theatre bug’ and knew she had found her life’s calling.
In high school, she was accepted into the Stratford Shakespeare Festival’s Shakespeare School, a theatre intensive program for young adults around the world. From there, she went on to study at the Ottawa Theatre School conservatory before graduating at the top of her class from Sheridan College.
In 2018, Kelly and her husband relocated from Toronto to Fredericton, where her husband was born and raised. She fell in love with their new lifestyle and the city’s unique culture; she knew this was the perfect place to make her lifelong dream of starting her own theatre company a reality. Recent credits include Abigail Williams in The Crucible (Branch Out Productions), Imogen in Cymbeline (Bard in the Barracks), and Rose Nylund in Thank You For Being a Friend (national tour).
